The Development Study on Planning and Capacity Building for Natural Resources Management and Sustainable Rural and Agricultural Development in the North Thailand, Kingdom of Thailand
(2004|2009)
Newly reclaimed farmland around forests
Workshop with local people.
In the North Thailand, there exists more than half of the countryfs total forest; hence the area is the most significant in the country for management and conservation of natural resources. However the forest coverage has been decreasing mainly due to inappropriate agricultural practices and logging. The Study includes formulating the Master Programs for 4 provinces in order to implement sustainable rural and agricultural development in the Land Reform Areas with local people and related organization, promoting proper management of natural resources. It also includes the implementation of pilot projects for capacity development of Thai counterpart personnel, related organizations and communities in a participatory manner.

Soil erosion could be a problem on undulating farmland.
