| Project for Rehabilitation of Gates of Taunsa Barrage in the Punjiab Province,

Taunsa Barrage is located at Punjab Province, Pakistan across the main stream of Indus river, which feeds irrigation water to the farmland of approximately 1.1 million ha as a core facility in the midstream of the Indus Irrigation System. This super sized barrage was constructed in 1985 with 1,300 m in length, which has been functioning as not only the irrigation weir but also the road bridge, rail way bridge and the pipeline. However, due to time erupts of 45 years after construction, it has been significantly deteriorated over the period. SCI has conducted the basic design study to restore necessary functions of the gate facility of Taunsa barrage and the project is just under construction under Japan’s grant aid scheme.
