Irrawady Basin Integrated Agricultural Development Project, Union of Myanmar
The first Master Plan Study undertaken by SCI covers about 1.8 million hectares of land situated in the middle reach of the Irrawady River that flows from north to south in the Middle of Myanmar. The river flows result in the deposits of fertile soil from China and created rich and fertile paddy fields in both banks of the River which make it as an agricultural lifeline of the farming populace of Myanmar. The Study covered multi-faceted and integrated area developments in agriculture, inland-fisheries and forestry. This was executed in three years time where its outputs became the bases for the conduct of the Feasibility Study of the Okan Dam and implementation of the South Nawin Irrigation Project.
