The Groundwater Development and Water Supply for Seven Towns in the Southern Region, State of Eritrea
(1997|1999)

After Eritrea became independent from Ethiopia in 1993, the population of seven towns of the Debubu region located in the south of the Asmara, the capital of Eritrea, increased rapidly by returnees and discharged soldiers. The water supply volume was 4.9 ~ 13.5 litter per capita/day. Urgent issue of the government was to improve the hygiene condition and to stabilize peoplefs livelihood.
Sanyu made up a development plan of water supply and hygiene, and carried out feasibility study of priority project after surveying the groundwater resources in the seven towns located 2,000 meter high from the sea level.
