The Study on Rural Water Supply in Mpigi, Mubende and Kiboga Districts, Republic of Uganda
(1995|2001)
The government of Uganda had given a top priority to improvement of low accessibility to potable water in the rural area which remained lower than 25%. The objective of the Study was to evaluate potential for groundwater resources and to formulate rural water supply development plan for the hilly area in the southwestern part of the country where poor hydrological condition existed.
Based on the result of the Study, a Japanese grant aid program for water supply facilities in the aforementioned area was implemented to contribute to improvement of accessibility to potable water as well as hygienic environment.
Success of the Project placed JICA a leading agency for assistance in rural water supply development in Uganda as well as DANIDA (Danish International Development Agency).
