The Water Supply Project of Kayes, Segiu and Mopti Region, Republic of Mali
The Government of Mali implemented the rural water supply projects for the purpose of eradicating the poverty and water born diseases. Inhabitants living in the rural area in Mali got polluted drinking water from river, lake and pond since they could not get safe water. It caused outbreak of water born diseases and high mortality rate of the infants. It also leaded to the poverty in the rural area because children could not go to school and women lost their job opportunities due to fetching water.
Sanyu supported the Government of Mali and improved the rural water supply system of 135, 000 populations in the three regions (Kayes, Segiu and Mopti Region). As a result, water supply coverage in the rural area in Mali improved from 53% to 57%.
