| Water Supply Project in Korifina Area,
Republic of Mali

The Korifina located at the northeastern area of Bamako city, the capital of Mali, was developed as a large housing areas and the population in the area was increasing rapidly because of adjusting inner city district and a good access to the center of the city. However, a large majority of the area had no water supply system and electricity. Water level and quality of conventional wells were getting low during the dry season and also worse by the inflow of domestic wasted water. As a result, inhabitants in the area faced frequently water born diseases and triggered social unrest.
Sanyu planned the water supply system in order to distribute clean drinking water to the area from the Bamako treatment plant and constructed transmission and distribution pipelines in capacity of 24,000 cum per day.
